Between January and February 2024, we carried out a programme of webinars for different sectors.

Small and medium size businesses (SMEs)

  • Date: 30th Jan 10am

  • Who is included in this sector: Small and medium sized businesses operating from physical premises and those with only an online presence. SMEs are workplaces with up to 249 full time equivalent employees (FTEs).  This could include retail, hospitality, events, entertainment and leisure facilities companies/ organisations.  

Entertainment and leisure

(including campsites, chalets, lodges, hotels, caravans)

  • Who is included in this sector: Holiday accommodation, holiday parks/resorts, campsites, caravan parks, bed & breakfasts, and hotels.    It also includes community centres and village halls, entertainment and sports venues (including leisure centres), sports grounds and stadia, showgrounds, heritage buildings, libraries, and museums.   

Retail

  • Date: 6th Feb 10am

  • Who is included in this sector: All sizes of retail businesses operating out of physical shops, as well as those operating online.  

Residential settings

(including care homes)

  • Date: 6th Feb 2pm

  • Speaker: Gareth Davies, Business Wales

  • Who is included in this sector: Nursing Homes, Residential Care Homes and Prisons.  

Hospitality and food services 

  • Date: 7th Feb 10am 

  • Speaker: Keenan Commercial Food Waste Collection & Gareth Davies, Business Wales

  • Who is included in this sector: Hotels, restaurants, cafés, takeaways, canteens, pubs, offices with canteens or cafés, schools and colleges, prisons, nursing homes and hospitals and any other workplaces serving food.

Waste collectors

  • Date: 7th Feb 2pm

  • Speaker: Simon Rutledge - WESA & Biffa & Gareth Davies, Business Wales

  • Who is included in this sector: Waste collectors that operate either all year-round or seasonally and whether they are within the private, public or third sectors.

Outdoor events

  • Date: 8th Feb 2pm

  • Speaker: Andy Fryers, Hay Festival & Gareth Davies, Business Wales

  • Who is included in this sector: Indoor or outdoor events, fairs, concerts, markets, and festivals in Wales which maybe operating on a not-for-profit basis or commercially.     It applies to small pop-up or temporary events operating over several hours as well as to larger events over several days, which may or may not include camping provision. The law is relevant whether the event or festival is held on public open space such as in a park, marketplaces, highways (where road closures have been permitted) or on private land.   Entertainment and leisure facilities

 Education settings and Universities

  • Who is included in this sector: All educational settings in Wales including state and private schools, as well as further and higher educational establishments such as colleges and universities.
